Creative writing courses at the University of Auckland are taught by Paula Morris and Selina Tusitala Marsh. Our 12-week undergraduate course Creative Writing: Four Genres (English 252/324), can be taken as part of a degree programme or as a one-off ‘Certificate of Proficiency’. A number of writers who are considering applying for the MCW, or just want to sharpen their craft skills, take this course. For information on how to register for a COP, please contact asc@auckland.ac.nz.

The Master of Creative Writing is a limited-entry year-long postgraduate programme with weekly workshops and seminars. It starts in July each year and applications close in early April.

We also offer public-facing seminars and masterclasses, like our Summer Writing Seminars in early March each year, or our Fiction Fundamentals / Nonfiction Fundamentals courses – some in-person and some as webinars. The fees for these special courses support our MCW alum fund and our other literary initiatives. To join our mailing list, email stories@auckland.ac.nz

Some MCW alums offer manuscript assessment or line-editing services for fiction, nonfiction and poetry projects. Please email the editor here at T3L and we can make recommendations.
